Follow the well-marked loop trail to learn about the history of the area, as well as the definition of a whistle punk. As you start down the trail, take the 1st right and follow the loop counterclockwise. At one point on the trail you emerge to an open area with gravel roads. Follow the gravel road to the left and enter the woods again at the end of that road. Continue back to the parking area.


Directions & Travel Tips

Whistle Punk Trailhead: Cross Bridge of the Gods ($2 toll). Head east onto WA Hwy 14.Travel through the town of Stevenson, and in another five miles turn left at a blinking light for Carson. Go through the flashing stoplight in Carson heading north on Wind River Highway for 8.5 miles. Turn left on Hemlock Rd and travel 1.1 miles. Just after the Wind River Work Station, take the next right (before crossing Trout Creek) on FS Rd #41. Go 0.6 miles and turn at the next right on FS Rd #417 (road number sign is 100-200' up the road). Follow it for 0.5 miles until you come to a clear parking area with restrooms. This is the trailhead.
